I have a Windows 10 Host with Windows 10 virtual machine Guests. All are running 22H2 with Windows updates to January 2025.
I ran into two things with 17.6.3.
First item.
I start a virtual machine guest with a desktop short-cut so it enters full screen:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmware.exe" -n -X -q D:\Virtual-Machines\BWS-DW-V1\BWS-DW-V1.vmx
If shortly after the guest VMware Workstation window appears I minimize it, usually to do something on the host desktop, when I go back to the guest it can be 'stuck' or spinning Windows dots (the boot up dots) are frozen. After a 5-10 seconds it will resume. Does not happen all the time, but sure seems like something new. Does not seem right you have to wait for the virtual machine to fully start before doing something else.
Second item.
From a PC at home also running Windows 10 (same version info as above) I remotely connect to the network via VPN. I then login to the same PC with the same Windows login via Microsoft Remote Desktop. I click on the same short-cut listed above and start the virtual machine. Once started, I minimize the VMware Workstation window, minimize the remote desktop window, then start a new Remote Desktop window directly to the Windows 10 virtual machine (for best performance). So far this all works fine, done it for years. However, I have now had two occurrences where my Remote Desktop window looses connection to the guest and will not reconnect. I can ping the host but not the guest. If I go back to the host Remote Desktop the virtual machine window does not respond. I shut it down by using Task Manager.
Reverted back to 17.6.2.
