    Hello vExperts -

Could anyone please share details regarding the Dos and don't's of running VMs on EMC Isilon..

We have run into a serious storage IOPS issue, simply don't have enough spindles and no money in the budget for more, but we do have an Isilon with some capacity, I don't have all the details in front of me as I'm writing this post as to what the nodes and such look like, but soon as I have them I will add them in to the post.

For now, if anyone wants to throw some knowledge at me around deploying VMs on Isilon before we blindly move in that direction that would be great

Thanks for you input in advance!

Simply put:  don't run VMs on Isilon.  Been there, done that, didn't like it much at all.  You will cause yourself grief.

We tried with KVM and with ESXi and neither works well. EMC has tried hard to make it work but even their SEs say to not do it.

I love Isilon but not for hosting VMs.
