The above link is to a kb that appears to describe my issue.
I use a 3rd party backup software called Nakivo to produce backups through the VMWare API. Suddenly a few days ago, backups of one of my 3 Windows servers started failing. After days of research, I found the kb above, and the windows kb it refers to, which seem to describe my issue. The problem is that, there have been no changes to the system. I didn't modify the partitions. In fact, the other two servers that are backing up fine are basically identical to the one that is failing.
Below is the text of the VSS Event from Event Viewer.
---------------------------
Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine IOCTL_DISK_SET_SNAPSHOT_INFO(\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE1) fails with winerror 1168. hr = 0x80070490, Element not found.
.
Operation:
Processing EndPrepareSnapshots
Executing Asynchronous Operation
Context:
Provider Name: VMware Snapshot Provider
Provider Version: 1.0.0
Provider ID: {xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx}
Current State: DoSnapshotSet

My backup provider believes the problem is on my end, and they are not offering further support.
So now I am at a loss as to how to move forward. I can try creating a new VHD following the guide in the KB, but I don't want to go to that extreme without checking for a less invasive solution first. I am hoping that someone else has seen this and can offer a different path.
Thank you for your time. Have a great day all.
