Space key in guest vm (windows 11) is terminating the vm

Hi Scott,

 

Thank you for the reply. I am very new to MAC book and VMware Fusion.

Version of Fusion? -- 13.5.0
Version of MacOS?--Ventura 13.4
VMware Tools installed in Windows? -- no I m in process to do that.
Has it ever worked? -- just recently installed.

I've not seen this kind of behavior with running Windows in either Intel or Apple Silicon Macs.

A few more questions:

Is that on an Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) Mac or an Intel Mac.

By "terminating the VM", what exactly is happening? Is the VM shutting down? Is Fusion trying to suspend it? Is your mouse within the VM's window when this happens?

What build of Windows 11?

What system language for macOS and language for the Windows installation?

Hello TechnoGeezer,

It's apple silicon m2. It's suspending vm machine state.

As i press space button in typing it's clicking/selecting one of the option in menu with symbol ||  (suspend button). Even command+tab is not reflecting for windows server. it's reflecting for my host machine though I am in guest screen.'

Command-tab to switch windows is a Mac shortcut. It doesn't apply to Windows. The same shortcut in a Windows system is "option-tab".

The other behavior is still somewhat puzzling. Again, what macOS system language are you running, what keyboard/mouse, and what language for Windows.

I got the same problem. Anytime when I pressed spacebar in guest OS Win11, the VM was suspended. I just installed the latest version of VMWARE Fusion Pro and Windows 11 Pro on my Macbook Pro running Sonoma. Please help advise how to resolve it. I can't use the VM. thanks

You might want to post the vmware.log file for the offending VM if you don't have the time to collect and post a full support info bundle.

My thought is that you may have a keyboard layout or mapping issue - and the vmware.log file will help determine what's those are set to.

1.Are you seeing this issue with any other (Linux) Guest vm's as well ? 
2.Can you please try with the latest fusion 13.5.2 and check once if you are seeing the issue.
3.Please share the logs by navigating to Fusion Help -> Collect Support Information -> Full

Try disabling full keyboard access in macos settings. that resolved the issue for me.
