So...I tried installing a new Sonoma VM from a USB installer as Fusion 13.6 cannot create an installer from the Install Sequoia app. (I think that has happened with Fusion before.) Not working. If I use SVGA the installer loads and runs but then fails with an unknown error after making selections and starting. If I use AppleGPU the installer gets about 1/8th of the way on the black screen and stops. I let one sit for an half-hour or so to see if it would pick back up.
My existing upgraded from Sonoma developer VM upgraded to 15.1 Beta 4 - and I did not see the WindowServer crash this time. The warnings about the Apple ID are still there and the learn more link works now - https://support.apple.com/en-us/120468?cid=mc-ols-icloud-article_120468-ios_ui-06182024 The link said I could not get iCloud Mail but the normal mail app worked fine so not sure what that means?

The ArsTechnica review discusses this and confirms that the Sequoia VMs will now try to access the host Secure Enclave to generate a unique ID for Apple Services. I cannot image that Fusion on Intel would provide the access needed so it may be that Sequoia VMs are going to be somewhat non-functional in Fusion.

I wonder if some of the changes and warnings are related to increasing account security?
It would be interesting to see if this behavior is present in Parallels.

So I think this is a "feature" and the bug is that this is the first time macOS has actually cared if it is virtualized or not? The macOS now can see it is virtualized when running on Fusion as well as the Apple Virtualization Framework and take appropriate defensive measures I guess?!?

I'm wondering if this is a by-product of the work that Apple has to support accessing an Apple Account when a macOS VM is running under the Virtualization Framework on a Apple Silicon Sequoia host..
Howard Oakley reports in this article on The Eclectic Light Company that certain functions don't work in Sequoia VMs running under the Virtualization Framework on a Sequoia host.
Of course, this could also be a macOS bug, so it would not be a bad idea to report it to Apple.
I would also think that Apple is focusing all efforts going forward on Apple Silicon. Witness a laundry list of functionality over the last couple of releases that doesn't work on an Intel Mac. In particular, their virtualization efforts are almost completely focused on Apple Silicon

I upgraded my Sequoia VM to the 15.0 RC and made a discovery. I am used to seeing the Update Apple Account Settings message with my macOS VMs. Today however clicking continue did nothing. When I clicked on my account there was a ! message "Some Features Are Unavailable - macOS running on virtual machine can't be used to edit certain account information, sign in to Apple services, access Find My and Apple Pay". When I clicked Learn More it was a dead link. FYI at this point but I am not sure what Apple is thinking as it sure seems macOS VMs are kind of dead now for testing things?
