Recently, I upgraded my version of VMWare Workstation Pro to version 17.5.1, and I regret it. Why?
Because in Windows XP, NHL 2004 always seems to launch without video (audio works, though). If I had posted this to some NHL community, they would tell me to wait for the game to start. No, that's not quite the case; I can hear the EA Sports logo, I can hear the sound effects that play when transitioning from it to the license screen to the title screen, etc., and I can even move my mouse to where some of the game's menu options are, but I can't see the game itself.
The same issue applies to NHL 2003. And my only way out of these white screens is to reset the machine. However, doing so will cause VMWare to not reset the VM, forcing me to use Task Manager to close the entire program.
All this on an OS that these two games are intended for.
I wish I had just stayed on VMWare Workstation Pro 16.x., then I would not be facing this problem.
