Hi folks,
History:
I'm still running macOS Monterey on my host computer. (2013 MacPro, 64 GB memory) and was still running VMware original.
So I upgraded to the Broadcom era and find myself here on the Broadcom VMware forum.
I installed VMware 13.5.2 yesterday, after first having tried to install the most recent version, because that version will not run on Monterey.
13.6.4 will not install on a Monterey host.
The next thing I tried to do is build a new macOS vm, boot iso from Ventura.
I've tried creating two vm's, the first one was built with a Fusion version slightly older, not entirely sure but I think it was 13.5.1 and then due to the failure I resolved to downloading the most recent Fusion version that will run on macOS Monterey.
Now what happens is in fact identical on both vm's: Ventura starts to install, but then when it comes to rebooting it gets stuck in a never ending boot-reboot loop, with the typical macOS crash screen.
I then found a post here on the forum that seemed to imply that network drivers might be the issue, so I switched to NAT hoping that this would not use network driver, but that did not help.
So my questions:
- Can Fusion run a VM with a higher macOS version than the host macOS version running?
- what can I do to solve / debug this and to get it working?
As an aside: I found an old Mavericks vm on my system, tried to boot that with Fusion, after answering some questions, and some disk grinding Mavericks is up and running so that proofs that that is working allright.
Thanks for helping out!
