  • 1.  Missing drivers for Fusion on Windows 11 arm64 with Macbook M3

    Posted Jun 10, 2024 10:29 AM

Hardware: Apple Macbook Pro M3 Max

    Host OS: MacOS Sonoma 14.5

    VM OS: Windows 11 arm64 23H2

VMWare Fusion: Player Version 13.5.2 (23775688), update says no updates available.

Problem: USB device doesn't come through, cause might be missing drivers in Windows?

So, the device in question is shown in MacOS System Information:

When I check the USB option in Fusion, no luck:
When I power down the VM and set USB compatibility from 3.1 to either 2.0 or 1.1, I can't input into the VM anymore. Keyboard and trackpad are not responsive.
Furthermore we have a driver issue for a Base System Device and a USB controller.
PCI lookup suggests the USB device is from VMWare: PCI\VEN_15AD&DEV_0774&SUBSYS_197615AD&REV_00
PCI lookup suggests the base system device is from VMWare as well: PCI\VEN_15AD&DEV_0740&SUBSYS_074015AD&REV_10
I'm guessing, but not sure, that the the missing drivers might prevent me from talking to my USB device.
Any suggestions on how to make the VAS6154A device show up in Windows would be very much appreciated.

Try the advice in the following Broadcom KB article https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?legacyId=1027964

In particular, note steps 10 and 11.

If you can get the device listed in the USB & Bluetooth settings in Fusion, then you can verify that the device has been passed through to Windows by using the Windows Device Manger.

One additional note: if the device requires a Windows driver to be installed, the device vendor most provide a driver compiled for Windows ARM. Drivers compiled  for Windows 10/11 on Intel won't work.
