Hey everyone, I'm having trouble starting my Windows 11 VM in VMware Fusion 13.6.3 on macOS 15.5. Every time I try to launch it, I immediately get an error saying the virtual machine couldn't start.

The VM log shows this critical error:
    Module 'ULM' initialization failed.
    and finally:
    Failed to initialize VM.

What model Mac are you running Fusion (and macOS) on? Your logs indicate that the CPU is a Core i9-10850K processor - which EveryMac.com does not list in any Mac model that Apple has shipped?

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for your quick response. To clarify my setup:

    1. Hardware Context:
I'm running macOS on custom-built hardware with an Intel Core i9-10850K. This is a non-Apple system configured to support macOS.

    2. Current Symptoms:
The VM fails immediately on launch with Module 'ULM' initialization failed in logs. Clean reinstalls of Fusion and VM configuration resets didn't resolve this.

    Question:
Is there a known compatibility issue between Fusion 13.6.3 and macOS 15.5 Beta that might cause ULM module failures? Any diagnostic data I could provide to help investigate?

(Optional: If asked for additional logs)

Since you are running a Hackintosh, all bets are off. Nobody from Broadcom will touch looking at this issue as it's on an unsupported configuration. Fusion is not supported or tested on hardware configurations that Apple does not support. And that includes systems running macOS in violation of the Apple licensing agreements

There have been reports in the past in this forum of the Apple hypervisor failing to run (that's the ULM in your message). This occurred the macOS security features when SIP or AMFI were disabled when using OpenCore Legacy Patcher. I'd suggest seeing if those are disabled. If so, turn them on and see if the problem goes away. If you can't run without those disabled, I would consult the Hackintosh community.

I am marking this thread as closed as it is discussing running software in violation of licensing agreements.
