    Hello everyone!

Has anyone encountered the issue where attempting a voice call in Microsoft Teams on Windows 11 running in VMWare Fusion 13 Pro causes the entire system to freeze-not just Windows, but also the host macOS (M1 Apple Cylicone)?

It seems the issue might be related to the audio adapter… I've tried several different settings, but the result is always the same-everything freezes. I suspect the audio adapter because I noticed a brief message about problems accessing the audio system during one of the attempts. However, it appears and disappears so quickly that I can't even capture a screenshot.

    Any thoughts?

What versions of Fusion and macOS, and what build of Windows 11 ARM?

It's possible that the audio adapter is part of the problem - there have been many reports of it being, shall we say, less than robust...

However it's very strange that the entire system freezes because of it. Does the system freeze require you to force-reboot your Mac or can you recover without having to resort to that?

Have you tried running Teams on macOS natively and seeing if it gives you similar issues?

The Fusion is Professional Version 13.5.2 (23775688) (HW version 21 for the VM)

    Mac OS 14.6.1,

    Win 11 Pro build 23H2 22631.4112

If I try to make a call first it hangs the whole host  and MacOS doesn't react on any keys or trackpad (no haptic reaction at all)
Then after a few seconds, it crashes completely - splash the screen and reboot itself. I sent reports that it was made to Apple after the OS reloaded.
Native Teams in Mac OS works  with no issues at all.

    Ouch.

Fusion shouldn't be causing kernel panics as the whole idea of running stuff in user land with system extensions is supposed to keep that from happening. Sending the reports to Apple (along with a description of what you were doing at the time of the panic) was a good call.

@Michael Roy Any chance someone from VMware is monitoring this forum and can bounce this issue by the development team?

Curious that if I click "More volume settings" in here.. the whole system crush as well 🤷‍♂️

Then, after I completely removed Teams from Windows VM, (and respectively removed its own Teams Audio device) this volume setting click doesn't cause crushes anymore.

meanwhile, I have installed Teams as Edge Web App and it works just perfectly.. So far the issue was with DesktopTeams audio subsystem.
But agree, that this is very abnormal if some crappy App in VM crashes the whole host OS. I was expecting that VM to be isolated quite well to avoid such issues.
