You have provided some useful information.
Your reply indicates you're running VMware Workstation on Windows. This is the forum for Fusion on Macs - they are similar but not exactly the same products. You may want to post this in the Workstation forum where you will get eyes on the problem from people who are using the same product you are using.
I will ask a moderator to move this post to the thread to the Workstation Forum.

Subject: Logitech universal receiver in VM?
This thread obviously get some decent visibility for this topic as it's the first result that comes up when searching about VMware and logitech dongle.
Someone offered a solution and the OP answered that it did not work. As a good portion of the other people finding this thread, I assumed the solution was not worth the try, and looked elsewhere. Only after not finding anything better, I tried it as a last resort, and the solution worked.
As nobody else reported the solution as viable for the issue at hands, I assumed it would be very usefull for the next person stumbling upon this thread, to read that the only solution -earlier dimissed- can, in fact, work for some people. I wish somebody would have done it before I found it, but here we are.
Do you think that opening a brand new thread, stating that the dismissed solution to this well referenced thread helped me, and leave this thread as it is, would help more people?
I can give more details about my environment if you want, sure, although I'm not sure that will be very usefull :
Host is Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit (Build 19045.5487) 10.0.19045,
VMware is 16.2.2 build-19200509,
Guest is Windows 11 Pro build 26100.3476
TLDR: this is not a "me too" post, it's the opposite. Sorry about the necro, I don't see a better solution, though.

Please don't necro old threads especially one that's 7 years old. Much has changed in 7 years.
"Me too" without more information is also very unhelpful with something that's this old. Create a new thread and link to this post if you must reference it. And please include more details about your environment and VM - a quick way to do that is to attach the vmware.log file of the VM.

Hi, sorry to necro this old thread, but I had this issue with the logi option+ sofware in my VM not seeing my logi bolt dongle, and following the advice of this link did solve my issue. Thank you, I was able to connect the dongle with my W11 VM on VMware workstation 16.

It could be the case that Fusion sees the Logitech receiver as a human interface device (HID). You could try the steps outlined in this KB.
