thanks. how can we check that my tape drive is connected to RAID based scsi controller.. i knw its easy task..but am doing first thing and thats why need this info.
Physically check by opening up the box would be the way I would do it. Or if you cannot look where the cable is connected to the chassis, if its connected to a card then check the type of card. If its connected to the Chassis MB then its most likely a RAID card.
If you have access to the management appliance or service console you can also run lspci and determine the type of SCSI device available. You should also be able to get this information from the vSphere Client under teh Storage Adapters link within the Configuration tab.
As well i read some post and came to know 4.0 does not support SAS drives..
Yes it does. Been using SAS for ages now, even with 3.5.
