  • 1.  HP P2000 G3 SAS MSA - HA Compatible?

    Posted Dec 17, 2011 07:31 PM

Can anyone tell me if the HP P2000 G3 SAS MSA is compatible with vMotion and HA failover.

My customer uses the following configuration:

    4 x HP DL380G7 (3 nic's and 2 SAS Controllers)

    all 4 DL380's are connected to a HP P2000 G3 SAS MSA with 18x 600gb 15K disks

I can't find this anyware on the VMware website, however the MSA is in the vSphere HCL.

    Thanks :smileyhappy:

Hello and welcome to the forums.

If it is on the HCL, then you should be fine.  Also, check out this discussion.

    Good Luck!

    Thanks for your respons.

The P2000 G3 SAS is in the HCL however i cannot find anthing if it's vMotion and/or HA compatible.

I have been reading some forums, some say that the SAS HBA is being listed as a FC HBA in ESX/vCenter and work perfect.

To be compatible for vMotion and/or HA, it just needs to be accessible as shared storage to all hosts in the cluster.  The HCL lists the P2000 as compatible for FC, iSCSI and SAS with ESXi 5 and ESX(i) 4.0 U4 or 4.1 or later.
