  • 1.  How to use Nvidia GPU in vmware workstation Pro 17.6.2 ?

    Hello Expert, 

    Please support on how to use Nvidia GPU in vmware workstation Pro 17.6.2 ? Thanks a lot for help.

    AS IS status:

    • I have one computer with Window 10, Nvidia RTX A2000 laptop GPU was on it, please refer to picture 1
    • Directx 12 was installed, also latest Nvidia driver was installed, and work well.
    • vmware workstation Pro 17.6.2  was installed, and ubuntu was installed in this vmware.
    • Look like only virtual graphic memory is setting for vmware workstation Pro, please refer to picture 2
    • In fact, I want this vmware can use GPU, can you help me to setting on it?

    A Workstation VM does not have direct access to the host's GPU. The graphics device seen by the VM is the virtualized VMware SVGA adapter. Workstation will use the host GPU, but only to accelerate the features of the VMeare virtual GPU. See the documentation for what capabilities the virtual GPU provides to the VM.

    Also, the documentation contains information on setting up your host system so that the virtual GPU can provide 3D acceleration to the VM.
