WE have been using vSAN for our VDI environment and everything works fine outside of initial provisioning of the machines.

Cloning of the template or VM takes a really long time.  About an hour for it to complete.  HP DL360 with 420i.   Often I will see the latency spike up but today its just slow.  will paste in Observer graph.

I'm not a View expert by any stretch, but there are a bunch of questions here which may help.

    Which version of View?

When you say clone, do you mean in the context of View to roll-out new desktops? If this is in the context of View, is it a full clone or linked? If full, how big?

How many VMs are being provisioned concurrently?

Which HP 420i driver version are you using? There are specific version requirements in the HCL/VCG for the driver.

What is the VM storage policy when you do a template or VM Clone? If this is the none/default policy, operations such as clone will be done using "thick" format by default

Have you checked the following white paper for guidance? - http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/techpaper/vmware-horizon-view-virtual-san-reference-architecture.pdf. This has some expected numbers for linked clone deployment using Login VSI which should be achievable in VSAN.

Have you spoke to GSS via a Service Request?
