No passthrough, but there is a 3D acceleration choice for VM.
I don't know about "modern times", but some time in the past, a 5000 eur Dell Laptop with Windows and high-end OpenGL graphics, couldn't do it. But a Linux workstation with lowest end, nVidia card could do it. Talking about OpenGL now.
What you might want to try, are the Host graphics drivers - update or upgrade them - depending on what you have got.
For professional use - what we found out before, the easiest solution was to build a Linux workstation with components that actually worked. The corporate PCs were left for Word and Excel and such.
Obviously, I don't know what hardware or even OS you have.

Subject: GPU Passthrough by using Solidworks
i want to know, it is possible with vmware workstation pro to pass through the GPU? At this moment I try solidworks on this VM Workstation Pro and the 3D graphic performance is very slow.
Is there any way to adjust the system to perform better? I need a simple solution to use Solidworks at a virtual machine.
