Going back and forth between different snapshots

I'm using virtual machines in my test environment and every now and then you want to revert to old setups, do some testing and then again revert to the new setup. I thought this was spossible with snapshots once you revert to an old snapshot all new snapshots are gone.

Whayt is the best way to solve this version controlling? Backups? Clones?

Why? You just select particular snapshot and "Go to". But do not forget to take new snapshot in current state if you don't want to lose changes.

That was the answer I got from the technicians here, my own knowledge in Vmware is very limited. They said that you can't move back and forth in time between snapshots taken on the same virtual machine. If you go to snapshot 1, the following snapshots will be lost.

Could it be that they were talking about reverting instead of "Go to"?
