  • 1.  Cannot ping host from guest in host-only VM on Windows 7

    Hi,

I have a Windows 7 guest and Windows 7 host. The VM is using host-only networking. I cannot ping the host from guest or the guest from host. I have switched off the firewall in the guest and allowed PING. I have less control with the host so have left it as it is.

I have VMWare Workstation and Player available to me.

Should I be able to ping one desktop from the other?

Pinging either way gives the error "Request Timed Out"

Anyone know what I could do next?

    Thanks

    Jason

Try disabling the Firewall on the host, and if it works you can enable the firewall again and create a rule to allow ICMP: Create an Inbound ICMP Rule on Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, or Windows Server 2008 R2
