Have you all ever had any success booting a vCD VM to a rescue disc/ISO?  We've got one uploaded to the catalog, but we cannot get it to boot.  I have changed the boot order to the CDROM but it still will not boot.  I have also tried a 2nd rescue disc but it still will not boot.

What am I doing wrong?  Thanks

Have you tried any other BIOS yet? Maybe there is some underlying BIOS issue with the Rescue disk? Also, what vendor is the rescue disk from?

We also use it, and it seems to work last time I checked.

I may not have permissions on vCD to change the BIOS?  I am just a standard user in vCD.  Where exactly is that option?

We're trying to blank a Windows 11 password with the SystemRescue CD - https://www.system-rescue.org/

We've also got a RHEL 8 VM where we need to blank the root password, as the grub menu is password protected.  Our original root password is not working.

    Thanks

In VCD you can edit the VM on the General Settings and choose what BIOS you use. I am not sure what version you are running but this is on version 10.4.2.1:

Also, I am wondering can you actually boot from the ISO and have you set the boot options correctly? Your screenshot shows the CDROM beeing the second boot device.

    Thanks for the reply Bryan.

In the VMs boot manager, if I select the virtual CDROM drive and hit enter, nothing happens.

If I go into "change boot order", if I'm looking correctly the CDROM drive is listed as option 1.  Does this look correct?  I'm also attaching the boot firmware.

    Thanks again.

    Hi,

Seems to be OK to me. Did you try any other ISO yet to check if this works?

    Thank you

It was the BIOS selection.  It was set to EFI instead of boot.  Once I set it to boot and started the VM, it booted the Rescue disc successfully.
