    Hello,

    Not sure if this was posted anywhere else (I could not find it), but I've heard in a YT video ((1) VMware Aria Operations And Cost - YouTube) that memory rate based pricing cards are based on usage.

    So, the CPU and Storage is allocation based, but the RAM is usage based. I've been searching for a VMware KB that can confirm this for two days now and I could not find anything related to it.

    Does anyone know if such a KB exists? Or any other official proof?

    Thank you,

    Paul

    Just an FYI for those that might have the same question.

    I got a response back from the product team. At this moment, any Aria Operations version (up to 8.14.x) calculates the prices for RAM based on utilization and NOT based on allocation.

    You can configure Ops to use another metrics for memory pricing.

    Open $ALIVE_Base/user/conf/analytics/advanced.properties and add the line:

    meteringMetricConfigForVmMemoryUsage=mem|guest_provisioned

    Restart Analytics and wait for the next price calculation.

    service vmware-vcops restart analytics

    I think there is an internal KB which shows all the options.
