Would like to know the main differences between AWS and Azure for migrating the workloads to a Hybrid cloud model?

Does anyone have any first hand knowledge or experience in this area?

No, but like you, I'm interested to know if anyone has any experience of it! It's Azure VMware Solutions (AVS) isn't it? I did attend a joint MS/VMware webinar about it and it seemed interesting.

VMC runs on  AWS, Azure, Oracle, and Google platforms. Using HCX on-prem workloads can be migrated to any of the VMC platforms.

    Refer : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cloud-adoption-framework/scenarios/azure-vmware/migrate

I have experience with VMC and AVS a little. But what you are looking for ?

In my opinion, this is always physical VMware cluster

There are few differences... depends on you need:

    - minimum cluster size ==> VMC 1 node(POC), 2 for PRoduction but in AVS must be today 3 node cluster

    - permission level (rights to specific vCenter settings) ==> VMC is more for me how SaaS... in AVS i feel more components you can configure... but maybe I'm wrong..

    - different interface for networking management... VMC has different interface (from few months started deliver additional access to part of NSX-T interface also) , in AVS you have full access to NSX-T

Differences are mostly in HyperScaller levels.. Integrations can be challenging but good to learn this.

How can i help more ?

    Hello Experts,

Just wanted to check for L2 Stretched Network for AVS, do we have any alternative or workarounds if HCX NE is not possible?

There are many differences between these two solutions  , you may check below points and you will be able differentiate between them

    • Capacity ( CPU, MEMORY, STORAGE)
    • Minimum number of node for production ( VMC ON AWS -  2 , Others - 3 )
    • Cost
    • Models ( Server Models )
    • Support model ( DIrect VMware and Microsoft )
    • Availability of latest Hypervisor, Upgrades
    • Limited Access VMC Infra
    • Native Cloud Access from VMC ( Azure / AWS )
    • Supported design models ( Multiple sites connections, Stretched Cluster, etc )
    • VCDR Support

I'm exploring the AVS but we don't get trail with Azure we need a enterprise subscription for that I believe
