Any option in snapshot, not to rename the VMDK names?

    Hi,

    As per documents VMware doesn't supports taking snapshot of powered on VM disks when they are configured with Independent disk mode.

    With respect to snapshots  I have few questions:

    1) Does VMware have any option  while taking snapshot not to rename the VM disks (VMDK)? Any option similar to "storageProvider.fixRecoveredDatastoreNames" option in SRM? We need this type of option because our application is sensitive to change in disk names. So we don't want to change name of the application disk when snapshot is taken.

    2) Does VMware supports snapshot when the VM is having both dependent and independent disk mode disks?

    3) Is there any method which allows snapshot of VMs when it has Independent disks?

    4) Any other alternative backup solution which takes VM VMDK files backup without changing any names?
