Most Windows update errors have nothing to do with Fusion. Have you tried searching the web and Microsoft forums for possible solutions for this error code?

I'll see if I can reproduce this -- I do have a 23H2 VM that I think applied this update. If not, I'll try it and see if it works OK.

Appreciate you checking. I have tried general Windows suggestions to no avail.

While I wait for my test to apply the update on my 23H2 VM, have you tried running the Windows Update troubleshooter, Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Windows Update . After running the troubleshooter, restart the VM, then retry the update installation.

Have you also checked that you haven't run out of disk space?

One other thing you might want to do is to clear the Windows update temp files. First click Settings > System > Storage 

Wait for the disk space analysis to complete, the click Cleanup Recommendations . In the Cleanup recommendations, click "See advanced options". Make sure that "Windows Update Cleanup" and "Delivery Optimization Files" are both checked. The other items can be unchecked. Then click on the "Remove Files" button to clean up those items.

Paul: Thanks for your help. I ran through your steps to no avail, as I had a download error twice

Download error - 0x80248007

Went to this page and ran through the steps

And my system seemed at that point to know that my update files were gone and downloaded and installed this:

Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Version 1.421.326.0) - Current Channel (Broad)

for what must be the umpteenth time.

Then it managed to download this, and once again, fail at updating

First, I'd make sure you have a backup of this VM while it's shut down and Fusion has been exited.

Have you tried to download the cumulative update from the Microsoft Update Catalog and attempt to install the update from that?

I assume that you've tried the DISM utility checks and sfc scans to verify those checks come back clean?

Also how old is this VM (what version of Windows 11 ARM did it start out with)? 

Have you tried to boot Windows in safe mode and attempt the update from there?

There's something Windows centric wrong in that VM.

Have you tried to boot Windows in safe mode and attempt the update from there?

yes, wouldn't install in Safe

There's something Windows centric wrong in that VM.
