If 3D Acceleration is enabled on the VM, and the Host OS is Windows, switching to the UAC screen will cause the current Guest (Windows OS) display to freeze. A full-screen refresh on the Guest is required to resolve it.

Both versions 17.6 and 17.6.1 have this issue, while earlier versions work normally.

    Try adding "mks.enableDX12Presentation=FALSE" to "C:\Users\[USER_NAME]\AppData\Roaming\VMware\preferences.ini"

    It's work. Thanks.

    Broadcom needs to work harder.

thanks, this fixed the issue I had since version 17.6, where the VM graphics would freeze everytime when the screen saver kicked in on the host machine.

latest version by Broadcom is bugged. You can downgrade or disable DX12.

They dont test their own releases.

For me, this happens when vm idle for some time, then back to vm, the host OS screen will be freeze.

Yep, still happens in 17.6.3 really annoying bug. Hope they get it fixed soon. I dont want to downgrade so many levels ;-(.

But this freeze bug happened since Broadcom pushed the first version after VMware buyout and now we are stuck with the freeze until the latest version and they keep on doing something but this is in making the product almost unuseable.

Its so crazy, sometimes this bug makes you think the mouse isnt working or the screen is frozen, but then you can just click somewhere and suddenly it gets "reactivated". Like they saved memory for sending the last frame, we dont need that.

There is nothing wrong with 17.5.2 on any platform. I use it daily - have been using that version for a year, or so, for tens of different VMs with different OS's.

If you read "the history of versions and companies", you know why that is.

Generally speaking, everybody wants to use the latest version - now this is what you really don't want - as you say yourself, coming from your observations.
