  • 1.  The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file

    Workstation Pro 15.0.3

    My host crashed over the weekend and now when I try to start my VM I get the error in the title for each of the VM disks and then it ends with a message that the VM failed to start. I'm new to this world so I'm not sure where to begin looking. There are folders inside the VM folder with the name of each disk and then ending in .lck I'm thinking these might be locks. Do I just need to delete those folders?

    Yes, with Workstation shut down, delete any *.lck files and folders in the VM folder.  Then reopen Workstation, load the VM, and power on.

    I have renamed the following files: _M29147.lck, _M64517.lck. But some folders are also present with the ".lck".  Should I delete these too?

    Yes - as ROB said.

    Delete files and folders with lck.extension added.

    Thanks buddy, I renamed all the files and folders and finally it worked.
