  • 1.  The network bridge on device VMnet0 is temporary down.What it mean.

    I am using windows xp on vmware workstation 5. When i turn on the VM it shows me an alert taht

    "The network bridge on device VMnet0 is temporary down because the bridge ethernet interface is down. The virtual machine may not be able to communicate with the host or with another machine on the network"

    Please guide me that why this meaage appear each time.

    That could mean that the physical network card, where your virtual guest is bridged to has no active link. That may happen if you have running this VMware Workstation on a laptop which is not connected to any network, for example.

    welliam using windows xp on the host computer & it also has a physical network card which is connected with DSL line.In the guest side i see this message at just start when it power on the virtual os.

    On the other side when both guest machines loaded i can ping each other by assigning IP address.

    There is another thing under Virtual network Editor

    Summary, Automatic Bridging ,Host Virtual Network Mapping,Host Virual Adoptors,

    is it related to my virtual adoptors which are already builtin in virtual OS.?

    Check out if the host is having networking connectivity or not. also check the logs for the workstation.

    did it ever worked, or it stopped after doing any step?
