    Hi,

is it somehow possible to use the Unity Mode in Linux (Win as Host OS, Linux as VM)? When I try to enter Unity Mode, it says, that it's not supported with Linuix VMs. Currently I'm using VMware Workstation 16.

Short answer: No, and there's nothing you can do.

Unity for Linux was removed in Workstation 12 (and it was reported as not working very well even in prior versions). It's only available for WIndows XP and later VMs.

With the advent of larger screens and multi-desktop configurations, is Unity really necessary?

Thank you for your answer. Maybe you can tell me your Workflow. So I can adapt mine. Well, as you already said, I also have a multi-screen Desktop Machine. Honestly with 4 Screens attached and one is an ultra-wide. So I have enough desktop Space. And the machine is also quite powerful. 16 Cores / 128GB RAM.

My current setup is, that I have VMware open on one Screen. And here I use it as a "normal" machine with just one screen. Just like I would do it with a remote machine connected via RDP.

One of the Problems I run into, is to switch in between Windows with Alt-Tab. Sure I can switch into the VM, but then Alt-Tab is used in the VM itself. Yes, I can press Ctr+Alt ant then Alt+Tab, but it's uncomfortable and slows down the workflow.
