I was on the phone with the tech support with xboxlive trying to connect my vmware windows to my xbox. as of now, i have my windows xp network set at bridged. so when i go the cmp, and type ipconfig /all, i get 192.x.x.101 and my xbox is x.x.x103. so they are both on the same network/workgroup. now heres the thing that stumps me. if you have windows media 11, which i do, you can media share your files to you xbox. example: music, pictures, movies, etc. so, on windows media, if you go to libaray, then media sharing. and then allow media sharing. you will see other computers, xbox, etc that would like to share. (if they are in your workgroup/network). and the xbox 360 pops up and is there. but when i go to try to access the pc, the xbox see its but thinks its not 'online'. so, my question is the mac firewall blocking the incoming traffic because it thinks that the xbox is hacking it?

First of all there is no good reason to use x's in the IP Address as it's a Private IP Address anyway and is not reachable from the outside by someone reading your post. Further more displaying the exact unedited output regarding the IP Address of the devices in question makes it much easier to validate the settings from a troubleshooting standpoint without relying on you saying there in the same subnet and not that what you're saying is being doubted it when one sees the actual numbers one has a clearer picture of the information being presented from an objective viewpoint.

Anyway why don't you temporarily turn off the Firewall on both the Host and the Guest and thus eliminate the Firewalls as an issue. If you're paranoid about turning off the Firewalls then temporally disconnect the WAN connection from your LAN thus isolating you LAN form the outside world.

i would also suggest trying to see if you can connect your xbox360 to your mac, using connect360 or other smiliar. if not, then problem might be in your router if you have one.

Your post has prompted my curiosity so i tried to share my winxp sp3 guests run by vmware fusion to my 360.

here is my setup: i have a macbook running fusion with winxp sp3 (bridged mode)

i also have a imac running winxp sp3 bridge mode with fusion

all connected to linksys router (xbox to router as well)

firewalls are enabled on host, guest and router.

i have connect360 on both imac and macbook osx and they are able to stream from mac without issues

on the guest side, go into wmp11, click on tools, options, library, sharing, click on enable sharing, rename share name to something unique (ie. not default OWNER). make sure to maximize media type shared, ie. don't limit to a certain star # (that was my problem, once i clicked on all ratings, it solved the issue).

i know it sounds silly but that last point made all the difference. give it a try and let us know
