Ok, I've been using the trial version of Fusion for a few weeks now and loving it. I'm very tempted to buy the full copy but the only thing holding me back is that fact that virtually none of my Windows games run on Fusion in OSX.

I'm running the Boot Camp partition that I already had installed with Windows XP SP2 on my Macbook Pro running OS 10.4.10, and it works perfectly other than the games problem, which is one of the main reasons I wanted this program in the first place. Very frustrating.

One of my games crashes the second i boot it up, another doesn't display any of the fonts and another plays it at half size on full screen.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Chris

Well... what games? Do you have 3D acceleration enabled? For the crash, anything in the logs? For the last, what size is your screen (and does the game force some particular size, like StarCraft)?

well the game that works is Worms 2 so I'm guessing thats because its a pretty old game. As for the others, the one that crashes instantly is Star Trek: Legacy and the other one is StuntMania pro by Sector3 games. Can't see anything in crash logs, the only thing that comes up is if I want to inform Microsoft of the problem.

Well...the former one requires definitely DirectX 9.0. While I don't know the requirements for the latter game, it looks like it uses also more than just DirectX 8.1 which Fusion currently supports.

I am not sure whether Dr. Watson is enabled on your system however, can you check the following directory:

    -> Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\DrWatson

Is there a file named 'drwtsn32.log'? And/or a dump file (*.dmp)? If so, could you post them?

    Ciao, Andreas

Here they are. With the log just do a search for "Trek" and you'll find the first error with it. There's an awful lot of them to go through.

    Attachment(s)

    log
    drwtsn32.log   4.24 MB 1 version
    dmp
    user.dmp   13 KB 1 version

For Worms 2, you might be able to get proper full screen behavior by editing ~/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/preferences (create it if it doesn't exist), adding the line (change it if it does exist) pref.autoFitFullScreen = "fitHostToGuest"[/code] then save the file and restart Fusion. Then go fullscreen with the guest and then start the game.

Ok, I tried editing the preferences file and it didn't work. It just screwed up the colour and screen size settings. Changed it back and it works now.

Weird. I tried this with the Worms 2 demo and it works fine (also had to add vmmouse.present line so the mouse wasn't super-sensitive). Are you sure you went full-screen before starting Worms?

Yeah its automatic when I play it on Boot Camp Windows. No problems with the mouse or anything, it just doesn't display in full screen.

Anyone have any ideas? My trial time runs out soon.
