  • 1.  Shared Folder read is slow on Fusion 10 and Windows 10

    Hello,

I'm having an issue reading from my shared folders. I have a 2016 MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM. I have my processor and RAM split in half for the VM. When I download a file in Safari, it goes to my Downloads folder in MacOS. I then go to my VM and attempt to transfer it from my Shared Downloads folder to a different location with the VM and it's incredibly slow. An approximately 250MB file took 3 hours to transfer. I've resorted to using a USB thumb drive but this should be necessary.

    Thoughts?

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're hitting this issue.

What guest OS are you using?

What version of macOS is on the Mac?

Have you tried re-installing VMware Tools?

Sorry, just posted a reply to an old thread--- didn't see this current one.

I too am having same problem. Setup:

    10.0.1

    Mac os 10.12.6

    13" Macbook Pro 8/512 i5

    Reinstalled tools

    Restarted VM and Mac

Still very slow. Any thoughts or anything I should try?

I tried your suggestion and that didn't seem to help. Here is my setup:

    MacOS 10.13.1

    Windows 10 (Completely up-to-date)

    VMware Fusion 10.0.1

    15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) i7/16GB RAM/512GB SSD

I have an update. I uninstalled and reinstalled VMware Tools and the problem persisted. On a whim, I tried to transfer a large .zip file on to the Desktop of the Windows VM. That worked and the transfer was really fast.

If I try to transfer to within my OneDrive folder, then it's really, really slow. So, that's the difference. As long as I'm transferring to a folder that's not synced, the transfer works fine.
