I use a USB to serial port adapter to program PLCs. I have been using my Retina MacBook Pro with Fusion for a few years with a Keyspan USA-19HS. I have had no issues with prior upgrades with OS X or Fusion. I was forced to upgrade to Fusion 7 due to my upgrade to OS X Yosemite. Now I cannot connect via my serial port to any PLCs. The problem is with all Siemens, Allen Bradley, and Wago PLCs. I have upgraded my USB driver software and the problem still exists. Do I need to downgrade OS X and Fusion?

Hi ROlds, and welcome to the VMware Communities!

Which version of Fusion were you using previously?  Is VMware Fusion passing it through as a USB device (with the relevant driver installed inside the guest) or as a virtual serial port (with the relevant driver installed on the host)?

If you were previously using VMware Fusion 6, you may wish to try downloading Fusion 6.0.5, which should work on Yosemite.  That might provide more information about where the failure is originating.

    Thanks,

I have been fighting the same issue with 7.1 and the keyspan adapter. Finally got my hands on a StarTech usb serial adapter and tried it. It works flawlessly under Windows 7 in Fusion 7.1. The one I got has a part number of ICUSB2321F. Hope that helps you out.
