  • 1.  Creating Shared folder - no luck!

    Posted Jul 11, 2008 08:22 PM

I have tried numerous times to create a folder to be shared by both systems macos & xp but I can't get it to work. No matter what I do no folder is created. This is what I've done: Going into VMW menu "Settings" I choose "Shared folder" ensure Enabled is checked. Need help. Wazzup here?

You also need to create an actual Shared Folder. All the selection you chose does in enable the Shared Folders feature. You need to Add at least one Shared Folders - give it a name, and point to what folder on the host you want to use.

Thanks. In xp - where do I find that "Shared folder". I created one in Mac OS and pointed to that in Settings. But then?

You could try reading the documentation...

VMware Fusion menu > Help > VMware Fusion Help > Moving and Sharing Files with Your Mac > Sharing Files Between Virtual Machines and Your Mac >

To view shared folders in a Windows guest by using Windows Explorer

To view shared folders in a Windows guest by mapping them as a drive

Thanx för your help. Yes the manual is always worth a first hand look and it describes the procedure in a comprehensible form.

Case fixed now and I have my shared folder as an alias on the xp desktop working nicely just like I want it.
