How can I communicate with the VM? I tried pinging the VM's IP address from Mac OS X but it didn't find anything. This is all it takes on Parallels. I assume this has been discussed somewhere but I can't find where.

For an explanation, see Host to Guest networking fails using NAT or Guest via NAT works, but Host can't ping guest.

To get this to work, either use bridged networking or edit the config file as described in those (or similar) threads.

Edited to include another thread reference and suggested action. --etung 2007.03.28 14:20

Pinging the guest VM can also be solved using Bridged-mode where the guest OS can either acquire it's address from a DHCP server on your LAN or use a static IP address.
