  • 1.  How do you get the F8 key on a MacBook Pro?

I've been trying to get into WinXP Safe Mode for some time, but I don't know how to get F8 recognized.

    Anyone know how?

Environment: MacBook Pro C2D (early 2008), RAM: 4096MB, Internal Disk: 300GB, Client OS: WinXP Pro, Region: 640MB, Virtual Disk: 32GB, VMWare: Fusion 1.1.1.

I had this issue, so I do know how frustrating it can be. Firstly, remember to access the F-keys on a MBP you need to hold down the Fn key (bottom left, next to ctrl). Then make sure F8 is not set as a hot key for Spaces, Expose or similar.

Now you should be good to go

BTW it may be easier to reinstall Windows now ... or at least that's what I had to do!!!!! :smileyhappy:

In addition to using the Fn Key to enable the Functions Keys to work as Standard Function Keys you could also in OS X under System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse check the check box for...

You would then have to use the Fn Key in conjunction with the Function Keys for Special Features vs Standard Function Key behavior.

Yeah, I figured that out ... and that you have to disconnect the Spaces Keyboard Shortcut.
