    Posted Nov 02, 2007 05:54 PM

I'm tying to get the PVX software to recognize the built-in iSight on my MacBook Pro. All other features of the PVX software work fine. I've succesfully connected to an iTV room at our school however, there is no video from my MB Pro iSight.

    Here's my setup...

    OS X 10.4.10

VMware 1.0 (tried beta 1.1.0-61385 but got kernel panic)

    Windows XP SP2

    Polycom PVX 8.0.2.0325

The iSight is automatically installed by Windows as a USB Video Device (see attached). However, the Built-in iSight does not install. The driver from boot camp didn't work. The Windows installer keeps asking for a 1394.inf so it must think it's firewire.

The iSight does show up under Scanners and Camera (also attached) and works just great when double-clicked. Only problem is that the PVX software won't let me select USB Video Device even though it is in the list (attached as pvx.png).

Any help on this would be appreciated. Since there is no Mac version of PVX, getting this to work would be an enormous help to the education market.

    Thanks...

    ...scott

Quick unrelated question - have you reported the kernel panic? Is it one that's already been reported? /Library/Logs/panic.log?

Yes, the panic is one that has already been reported. It has something to do with 10.4.10 and the newer MB Pro's. The quick fix is to go to Leopard, which I will do when my disc arrives.

Btw, the PVX software is available as a free demo from Polycom if anyone wants to try it.

Another quick question - do you know if this works natively (e.g. under Boot Camp)? If it doesn't work there, it's unlikely to work in Fusion. Also, to confirm, you were unable to get the Boot Camp drivers installed in the VM?

I don't know if it works natively. I don't have a Boot Camp partition and never booted that way. I tried a driver that is supposed to be from Boot Camp. I found it through another post on this forum. Maybe its the wrong driver or there is a better one??

When I try to install the driver on XP as an Imaging Device

    using the isight.inf

    I get an error message....

You have to have a beta version of PVX. I am running it on a Macbook and It did not work so I called polycom they had to upgrade the software to run on Vista and core dueo computers. He gave me a link to the beta version and it works fine. I hope this helps it is pvx 8.0.4 I think.

Hi - I just experienced the same problem and was able to resolve by selecting the Virtual Machine menu bar at the top of the screen - select Virtual Machine / USB - you should find a menu pick to connect Apple Buit in Isight. It did give me an error during installation as I pointed to my c: drive to install driver - but it still worked. PVX is now working great!
