  • 1.  Using option to make accent in vmware

    Posted Jan 05, 2009 03:55 PM

    Hello,

I'm a french user of vmware, however I use a qwerty keyboard, so I need to use the option key to have some accents (for example option e e to have é). However, I'm not able to make accents in vmware guest (windows in my case) since the option keyboard is directly send to Windows. I tried to play with vmware's preferences, but I didn't find a configuration to have accents working.

    Is there a workaround?

    Thanks a lot

Keep in mind it's OS X generating the accented characters, not the keyboard. Windows doesn't use the same keystrokes to create accented characters. See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306560 for one way to create accented characters in XP - I just tested this and it worked for me (using 'e to get é).

Thanks a lot, it's not exactly what I wait, but it's a very good "workaround" anyway. Very thanks again to let me use qwerty keyboard!
