OK, but anyhow when looking at the document properties it shows filetype Wordpad. It was created by Word in PC and has DOC suffix.
I have done the steps you say. In Mac I have Word as predefined, and in Fusion chosen "Default host application".
When dobleclick on the document nothing happens.
Same thing works fine for PDF and JPG files, which are opened in Mac Preview.
(I changed to Word as predefined in Mac AFTER having copied documents from PC to XP in Fusion. Does it matter?)
What to do ?
