  • 1.  backslash character on AZERTY keyboard inside cmd window ?

    Posted Jun 24, 2023 02:14 PM

Hi getting stuck when settings up Windows 11 ARM at the stage where one has to bypass the country settings and doing FN+SHIFT+10 (that one works).

I'm simpy unable to type the backslash character on my AZERTY keyboard in the cmd window. On my mac i simply do SHIFT+ALT(OPTION)+SLASH, but that doesn't work in the cmd window.
So how can i make it work ?
PS the windows VM also had French (AZERTY) keyboard setup.

    Hello,

I have an AZERTY keyboard on my laptop and to type "\" I use ALTGR + 8.

Alternatively, you can use visual keyboard,

or simply the ASCI code of "\" by ALT+92 (if you have a numpad)

Hi and thanks for the feedback.
As I'm on mac (macbook air) i don't have the ALTGR key.

When i click the backslash character in the visual keyboard, it doesn't give me that character in the cmd window.

I don't have a numpad, but did try to do FN+ALT+92 with no avail.

Depending on the keyboard layout, alt (right) + < may work.

You can lookup the default keyboard mappings in VMware Fusion's settings, and also add other mappings if required.
