  • 1.  Problem installing Windows 11

I'm trying to install a new VM on an iMac.  Couldn't find Windows 10 download online to purchase, so I purchased Win 11.  Got VMWare loaded, but when I try to install the Win 11 OS, I get an error saying the PC doesn't meet minimum system requirements.   I'm not sure which requirement is not met.

Can anyone help with helping to install Win 11?   If not, can anyone tell me my best approach?

I want a backup to my current VM on my MacBook Pro in case I have a problem on the MacBook - so I can jump over to the other computer and start working in the VM there.

Maybe I can just make a copy of my current VM and load it on the iMac??

Thanks!  Been working on this all day.

Can you describe more about your iMac system first?

What processor is in your iMac?

What MacOS version does it run?

What version of Fusion do you have installed?

I’ve seen this “your system doesn’t meet prerequisites” error when trying to install a Windows 11 VM on Fusion running on my 2014 Mac mini.

First, double check that your VM meets Windows 11 minimum specs (4 GB memory, 64 GB hard disk, 2 VCPUs, EFI, Secure Boot, and vTPM). If you have all these in your VM but you still see this message, Windows may be complaining about your CPU. It not recognize an older Intel CPU as a supported CPU.

Search the net and look for instructions on how to install Windows 11 on unsupported processors. It’s involves opening up regedit right after you boot the installer ISO and then add one key. I can’t remember the registry key right off the top of my head.

The other option is to do the install from the Fusion menu, and then to use the product key you purchased to activate it.

That'll also work if you're on an ARM machine, as there is no retail Win 11 for ARM available, but the product keys will work.
