  • 1.  Windows 11 Login no longer working since update on Fusion 13

I haven't used Fusion in some time on my Mac but recently opened it up and logged into my Windows 11 VM... Fusion was asking for an update to the latest 13.5.1 build. I shut down the VM to troubleshoot some things but now I can no longer log in. It's using a Microsoft Online account but it's not accepting my password. VM is connected to the internet.

    Any suggestions/ideas?

Did you apply the update to Fusion 13.5.1 when asked?

Was your VM shut down or suspended?

Yes when asked... and I think the VM was suspended.

The account is tied to Okta and we are seeing invalid login credentials. Another user was able to reproduce the issue on theirs. We updated the policy for M365 to allow password-only and they were able to log in after that but no change on mine.

Power on the VM, then shut it down using the menu bar item VIrtual Machine > Shut Down. Then power up the VM and see if things change.  In my mind it's not a good idea to leave VMs suspended when performing a Fusion update or upgrade, no matter what VMware says.

Fusion 13.5.1 includes an updated VMware Tools. The updated version is the one that VMware made available for standalone download back in October. It fixes a couple of critical security issues. You (or your company) can make the decision whether you want/need to upgrade or not.

If it’s Okta, I presume you have a password rotation policy.  Have you tried using the old password that was in use last time you booted it up?

FWIW, Okta Verify (either push or with a code) should work, but direct FIDO2 may not,
