In an increasingly connected world, enterprises need reliable, secure, and flexible networking solutions that can seamlessly connect their global operations. Throughout 2024, we've been steadily expanding our VeloCloud SD-WAN Edge 700 series to meet these evolving needs, and we're excited to share some significant developments, particularly for our customers with operations in China.

The evolution of the Edge 700 Series

Last year marked a pivotal moment in our branch networking strategy with the introduction of the VeloCloud SD-WAN Edge 700 series appliances. This new generation was designed from the ground up to deliver exceptional branch networking capabilities, enhanced security features, and provide the foundation for edge AI applications that are becoming increasingly critical for modern businesses.

The expanded portfolio includes four new models:

  • Edge 710, designed for small businesses

  • Edge 710-5G, offering global integrated 5G connectivity

  • Edge 720, designed for small to medium branch offices

  • Edge 740, our mid-tier enterprise solution

Building on the success of the Edge 700 series, VeloCloud also released the Edge 4100 and Edge 5100 series in January 2025. These new appliances are aimed at higher-tier enterprise and data center environments, providing even greater performance and capacity for businesses that require more complex networking solutions.

With these new models, VeloCloud continues to solidify its position as a leading player in the SD-WAN market, offering a complete range of solutions for organizations of all sizes.

Breaking new ground: China import approval

We're thrilled to announce that all Edge 700 series models—including the Edge 710W, Edge 710-5G, Edge 720, and Edge 740—have received official approval for import into China. This approval comes without requiring any modifications to either the hardware or software components.

This development is especially significant as it opens new possibilities for our customers with operations in China. While many customers in the region have been successfully using previous generations of VeloCloud Edges, this new import approval allows them to leverage the latest capabilities that the Edge 700 series brings to the table.

What this means for global enterprises

For multinational organizations, this approval eliminates a significant barrier to implementing consistent networking architecture across all regions. The ability to standardize on the Edge 700 series across all regions, including China, will simplify procurement, deployment, and ongoing management while ensuring all branches can benefit from the latest features and capabilities.

Looking ahead

As digital transformation accelerates, a flexible, secure, and globally consistent networking foundation is more critical than ever. With the expanded VeloCloud SD-WAN Edge 700 series now approved for the Chinese market, businesses can leverage cutting-edge connectivity and security. We look forward to securing China Import Approval for the Edge 4100 and 5100 soon, further broadening access to our latest technology.

Note that while Chinese customs has approved import of the VeloCloud Edge 700 series, in-country certifications are required. These are currently in process with an expected completion timeframe of September 2025.
