  • 1.  Cannot install Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Console

    Out of probably 10 install attempts for SEP Manager Console only two are successful.  I connect to SEP Manager Web Access and download java 6 (the click here button to download and install java 6 only shows up when running Chrome or if you run IE9 as admin).  I install java and restart the browser and it asks me to install java again.  Only twice did it give me the option to install the console.  Is there somewhere else I can download the management console?

    Can you telll us the version of your SEPM?

    So are you clicking on the download and login link and it fails? I had one systems like this and we tried downloading the JnlpServlet.jnlp by right clicking that link and when we executed the file after it was downloaded we had some success.

    10 install attempts for SEP Manager  console , you said 8 failed. It is given any error. ?

    What is the OS veriosn and SEPM version. ..

     

    Please check IE enchanced security settings also.

    OS: Windows 7 Pro x86

    SEPM Version is 12.1.671.4971

    No, the problem is the Download & Login link never shows up.  I was able to work around the problem by opening the page on a machine that already had SEPM and copying the download link.  I still am curious though why the problem exists.  It's like the SEPM site doesn't recognize that Java 6 is installed.

    See above reply to Scottm, it doesn't give the option to download and install, just keeps asking to download Java 6.

    Could it be browser security settings on the machine encountering these problems? Never seen that, only guessing.

    configure the Java console to not use a proxy:

    1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
    2. In the Control Panel, double-click Java.
    3. In the Java Control Panel, on the General tab, click Network Settings.
    4. In the Network Settings dialog box, click Direct Connection.
    5. Click OK.
    6. In the Java Control Panel, click OK.
