  • 1.  How can you tell if 32 bit or 64 bit SEP is installed?

I've looked but don't find it.  Is there a way from the SEPM console to tell if a client has the x32 or x64 version of SEP installed?  Am I right in presuming that a x64 operating system might have either the x32 OR x64 version of SEP installed?  Therefore you would need a way to tell what version of SEP is installed so you can assign the proper upgrade or patch to install.

It's not possible to install the 32 bit package to a 64 bit system.

64-bit OSes will only allow you to install a 64-bit version os SEP, same with a 32-bit OS. You don't need to know which machines have what because when you assign a package to a group for migrating to the latest version the program is smart enough to know which package goes to which OS.

In Computer status report there is a report called Client Inventory. That report gives information on the OS not sure if it can be specfic to tell 32 0r 64 bit.

Can you create the report and see if that helps

Now coming to avoid confusion on 32 bit and 64 bit for upgrade is concerned , there is no need to worry about. Say you have a group called TEST and you have 32 as well as 64 bit clients in the group

Assign both the package 32 and 64 bit one by one using Auto Upgrade.
In the first attempt all 32 bit will upgrade and it will fail on 64 bit
In the second all 64 bit upgrade and 32 bit would fail
