Possible if you have still have some leftovers of previous version install.

Remove from Add/remove programs and then install it...

    Hi Zimbru,

What Symantec product are you installing- SSEP 5.1, or is it SEP 11 or SEP 12.1?

Please also supply detail about whether this is an upgrade or a fresh install.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Mick

Ok, here is the story :

    What I have :

    • I have some Thin CLients (HP T5570 - OS : Windows Embedded 9)
    • Those TC on the begining was preinstalled with : Symantec Endpoint Protection Agent 5.1 for Windows Xp Embeded.

    What i did :

    •  I remove it the Agent 5.1 ( I did this because i cannot make it to work like a managed client, i think they are working as unmanaged computer - provide help if  im wrong please)
    • I tried to install a new install client (SEP 12.1) and i get the error wich is in image from first post. Anyway if i press OK , the install it will continue but in SEP Manager will look like this :

    What i want :

    • Thin Clients to be managed by my new SEP Manager
    • Someone tell me if i can do it with SEP 12.1 or do i need to buy Symantec Endpoint Protection for Windows XP Embedded.

    Thank you for answering.

    Hi Zimbru,

Either SEP 12.1 or SSEP 5.1 can be used.

Windows XP Embedded Support in Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 11 vs. Sygate Symantec Endpoint Protection (SSEP) 5.1

SSEP 5.1 has its own management console.  Those SSEP 5.1 clients do not appear in the SEP 12.1 SEPM.

    What i want :

    • Thin Clients to be managed by my new SEP Manager
    • Someone tell me if i can do it with SEP 12.1

That should be fine--- after you click OK, is SEP 12.1 successfully installed on the Thin Clients?  Do they appear OK in the SEPM?

Is a Windows error.  Generally caused by memory that is having a problem.  Sometimes, just a part of the memory is beginning to go bad or the system board is using a memory mismatch...  333 and 400 mhz RAM.

You can try, first to test the memory, either using software or by replacing (one/all) of the memory in the system.  See if that fixes your problem.

I tried on several Thin Clients 4 or 5 already. I think is a genreal problem.

    Hey Mick,

I will insert a picture with the status of the client and how it looks in the management console :

    Cheers!

Interesting--- so it installed everything successfully, except the firewall component-?

I have found a /pdf about your Thin Clients: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13746_na/13746_na.PDF  The "Windows Embedded Standard 2009" they use looks like the Vista version of XPE, according to wikipedia.  That OS is not mentioned by name in SEP 12.1's system requirements.

SEP 12.1 Release Update 1 should be available within a couple of weeks.  That release has new enhancements for the latest embedded OS's--- the firewall issue might be solved as easily as trying this new RU1 release when it is available.  If SEP 12.1 RU1 works/has been thoroughly tested on WES 7, it should work on WES 2009.

If it does not, you are probably best opening a case with Technical Support.  They will be able to look into the matter officially.

(It is interesting that the .pdf from HP says that it comes with "HP Symantec Endpoint Protection for enhanced data security" when it is the agent from SSEP 5.1 rather than the client for SEP 11 or 12)

I see, thank you for answers.

I will try "Sygate Symantec Endpoint Protection (SSEP) 5.1"  now.  If that doesn`t work either, I will wait for SEP 12.1 RU1.

    Good luck!

Cant find it on symantec site, help me :]

    Thank you.

Yes, it is an enterprise product.  Data sheets, etc are available from http://www.symantec.com/business/endpoint-protection-for-windows-xp-embedded
