  • 1.  Client download agent and package from site server

    Hi All

    I'm trying to install agent to client from site server instead of NS server.

    Package service, Task service was already installed on site server.

    How can i config for client download and install agent, software from nearest package server?

    Package Server: IIS must be installed on the Package Server in order to use it for the initial Symantec Management Agent push installation. HTTP/HTTPS code base are needed to use a package server during the intial Symantec Management Agent push.

    Site Server Settings: Make sure that the subnets which contain the Site Servers for a site are added to the Subnets list associated with a site. Also the client subnet should be part of a defined site.

    Push Symantec Management Agent: On Settings check the flag "Use Closest Package Server" on Symantec Management Agent push to use the Package Server source to intall the Altiris Agent.

    I don't think you can install the base Symantec Management Agent from the nearest Site Server, I think it has to be done from the Notification Servers if you're doing a "push" install. Until the base Symantec Management Agent is installed the client has no way of knowing what the nearest Site Server is and the Site Server can't do a push.

    Once the base Symantec Management Agent is installed it should then download the plug-ins/sub agents from the nearest Site Server.
