  • 1.  SEP clients can't download new Virus Definition after update 11.0.6200.754 to 11.0.7000.975

    Posted Oct 06, 2011 03:55 AM

    Everything was fine with 11.0.6200.754.

Few days ago I found out new SEP client (version 11.0.7000.975) in SEP manager and roll out it to all PC. After that clients can’t download updates from SEPM.

SEPM have last version (at the moment “2011-10-05 rev. 020”)  but clients still have “2011-09-27” (27 sep it is date when all clients get 11.0.7000.975 version)

Also I have 4 clients that get this update later. And they get last def, but after that they can’t update defs. too.

    SEPM

OK. I thought it is because SEP manager still version 11.0.6200.754 so I update it to 11.0.7000.975 but it does not help =(

What is it and how to fix it?

    Hi,

    Go to IIS server

    1) Right click on Symantec Webserver --> Properties --> Home Directory --> Under Home directory there is an option Execute permissions : change it to Scripts and executables.

After doing suggested changes monitor the status .

Done. But it did not help.

(after I tried to set it also for  \content and \ClientPackages. Same result)

Cant do this because when I click on the "Setting" button - nothing happens (no dialog box, nothing)

Is there way to downgrade clients back to 11.0.6200.754 ?

It looks like there are not problems with this client. I downgrade one PC to 11.0.6200 and it downloads last def bases... I will wait for new def update and if it will be fine I will downgrade all clients back.

    Hi,

If there is no dialog box then you will have to register appconf.dll

To register the dll we need to execute the following command from command prompt.

    regsvr32 appconf.dll

After this you will be able to click on Configuration button under Virtual Directory tab and progress further.

Also you can try by following way

  • Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services(IIS) Manager
  •

  • Right click on secars and select Properties under Symantec Web Sever
  •

  • Click on Configuration button under Virtual Directory tab
  •

  • In the Application Configuration window, Select Mappings tab
  •

  • Under Application Extentions, select extention in the list and click on Edit
  •

  • Click on All Verbs radio button and click on Ok
  •

  • Click Apply and Ok for all the windows
  •

  • Close IIS
  •

Does the reinstall mean - Uninstall, Reboot, Install
Or there is way to deploy previous version?

Where can I found the sylink log?

    Hi,

These settings are for IIS where SEPM is installed.

You will have to register the appconf.dll, you need to execute the following command from command prompt.

    regsvr32 appconf.dll

After this you will be able to click on Configuration button under Virtual Directory tab and progress further.

For us, we download the latest jdb file and run it on the manager side. After a while, manager starts updating the client and when we check the show download status..the microvdef32 is now updated. For a week, SEPM is working fine again.
