SEP 12.1.6 MP4 show BlueScreen On Windows 10 Anniversary Update

  • 1.  SEP 12.1.6 MP4 show BlueScreen On Windows 10 Anniversary Update

    Posted Apr 06, 2016 01:00 PM

Microsoft will release the next Windows 10 Update (Anniversary) during the next 3 months.

Using the Insider Build Version 14295 which Microsoft has released some days ago (further details check https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2016/03/25/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-14295-for-pc-and-mobile/?OCID=WIP_r_14_Body_LatestBuild) shows that the latest build of SEP 12.1.6 MP4 is not compatible.

    • SEP 12.1.6 MP4 will generate a BlueScreen during Upgrade from Windows 10 (1511) to Windows 10 (Anniversary)
    • SEP 12.1.6 MP4 will generate a BlueScreen after installing on Windows 10 (Pre-Release of Anniversary Update)

This means that all machines using Windows 10 have to be updated with a newer / upcoming release of SEP, before Microsoft releases the Windows 10 Update (Anniversary), which will happens soon.

For planing / resource blocking for SEP Rollout - when can we expect a new version of SEP which runs with the summer update of Windows 10? Is there any workaround for SEP 12.1.6 MP4 available.

    Thanks!

You'll need to get a case open with Symantec on this so they can do RCA.

Next release I believe is 12.2. Not ETA though.

Do you have all the components installed/enabled?

FWIW, it bluescreens on the latest 14316 build of Windows 10 too.

I get a "UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP" error when it bluescreens.  Have tried it on 4 different systems so far (physical and virtual) and they all get the same results.

I'm attaching the minidump from one.

Best to get this to Symantec support so they can review. An official case needs to be opened. This is just a user forum.

Thanks for that. I've looked at the file and two things stood out...

    "Face Recognition Infrared Camera"

    and also

    C:\Program  Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Phone Tools\CoreCon\11.0\bin\IpOverUsbSvc.exe

I would hazard a guess and think it's to do with the 2nd one - Windows Phone IP over USB Transport - is this currently plugged in?

Try unplugging the phone from the PC (or remove the driver as a test) and try again.

If it doesn't BSOD this time, then it could be that. Let Symantec support know about it.

    Good luck.

The problem appears to be with the Teefer driver.  Whule using Cleanwipe in safe mode on Build 14342, I noticed that it errored out when attempting to remove the teefer driver.

There is a newer beta of Norton that corrects their issue, but I have yet to see one for SEP that corrects ours.

Just wondering if anyone has any updated information on this problem. I am currently running Build 14371 and still no joy with SEP.

Being the person who has initiated this thread I like to give you some technical feedback.

    • Concerning the High Security Alert from Symantec for SEP 12.1.6 MP4 we received the clearance to upgrade our IT infrastructure to SEP 12.1.6 MP5.

    • At the moment we are in the rollout progress having just more then 1000+ client systems updated without any significant issue.

    • With that we had the possibility for a pilot rollout to more then 20+ Windows 10 Anniversary Update machine which are using the latest Microsoft Windows 10 Anniversary Build Version (06/30/16).

As mentioned by Sadhan Hariharan I could confirm that this issue for the Windows 10 Anniversary Update is fixed with SEP 12.1.6 MP5.

Thanks a lot to Sadhan and with Best Regards,
    Captain MESO
