  • 1.  Any upcoming version in SEPM after RU6a-MP1

    Posted Sep 16, 2010 07:59 AM

    Hi,

    We have SEPM RU5 now and planning to upgrade to RU6a-MP1. Any one knows any new versions like RU7 in this year or next year starting.

    If YES, we can postpond this activity after new release.

    Hi Vijay,

    It  is always recommended to be  on the latest release, so I would say, better upgrade to ru6 mp1 now. Not exactly  sure, when would RU7 be released.

    Anyhow, you would need to be at RU6 atleast to be able to upgrade to RU7, from RU5. You would not be able to directly upgrade your  SEPM, or your clients to RU7. You would have to first upgrsde to RU6.

    And you would also need to migrate to RU6a PRIOR to upgrading to RU6MP1 as migrating straight to RU6MP1 from RU5 is not supported or recocmmended.

    Upgrade from RU5 to RU6 then upgrade to RU6mp1?

    Is that just for SEPM or does that apply to the clients as well?

    You have to upgrade to the base RU before you can upgrade to an MP (Maintenance Patch), this applies to the SEPM only, clients can upgrade directly.

    A slight correction to the above, you can upgrade directly from a previous base RU/MR to the newest RU without stopping inbetween (ie. A single upgrade). You only have to go to the base RU first if you are also upgrading to a MP

    Examples: (NOTE: RU7 is used here for example purposes)

    MR3 -> RU5

    MR2 -> RU7

    RU5 -> RU7

    MR2 -> RU6a -> RU6MP1
