    Hi!

May there ara some duplicated item in your system and they are showing offline?

    You have two alternatives:

Replace teh sylink.xml, you can find the tool and the documentation below:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/downloads/sylinkreplacer-tool-connecting-sep-clients-sepm

for the new version of the tool ask from the symantec support.

If you have duplicated items in your database and one of them show offline:

sylink replcaer will replcae the sylink remotely. Which service do you want to stop and why?

    Hello!

It's not needed to stop any services on server. The sylink stops the smc service on remote clients

Also, make sure you didn't put the server into a new place in the SEP tree.  If you did, you might find that a client is in there twice with one active and the other offline.  I've done this myself.

    Hi

    After installing symantec manager

Please check the Firewall settings on both the 2008 machines. If its enabled try disabling it on both machines and check whether they are able to communicate with each other if yes then configure the firewall for the endpoint ports.

.Copy the sylink.xml file from the SEPM machine. The location is C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Data\outbox\Agent\Click any of the numerical folder\Copy the sylink from there. Save it in any media or share it in network.
Go to the client machine where the server is offline.
    Go to Run\Type smc -stop
Paste the sylink.xml in C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection
It will ask u for the replacement of the file, just replace it.
    Go to Run\Type smc -start.
    Now check the server name.
In the management console you may not find these clients in the desired grouop, just check the default group and move them in desired group.
