Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition will support Windows 7 on or before November 19, 2009.    Any questions?

Besides Windows 7 support, are there any enhancements or features added in the new build?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

Any update as to exactly when this update will be available? Will it be downloaded via LU?

SEP 12 RU1 is due out 11/19. You will need to download it from the File Connect or the Symantec Platinum sites.

    Ann states:

"Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition will support Windows 7 on or before November 19, 2009.    Any questions?"

Does that apply only to SEP 12?  What about 11.0.5 the version I received 3 weeks ago and am now ready to install on SBS 2008 R2 and my  Win 7 computers?

    It's too late!

We have never bothered with a Vista upgrade where I work and are just about to start a Windows 7 rollout after XMAS.

All our testing has pretty much been done and the fact that even with the newest trial version of Symantec Endpoint Protection (which I downloaded last week - SEP Client Version 12.0.122.192, SPC Version 12.0.122.192) I was still getting long explorer delays and constant warnings about the confidence online utility driver being blocked due to incompatibility.

So even though we have used Symantec Corporate Edition for years we are now migrating to a different AV company.

You have missed the boat already in terms of my company Symantec. A compatible version should have been ready by now.

Since I push out the clients for all of my SEPSBSv12 clients, how do I upgrade from SEPSBSv12 to SEPSBSv12 RU1?

    Hi Drew,

See page 61 in the Implementation guide for detailed upgrade information.

    For clarification, Step 3 says:

Installation automatically detects and upgrades the server software and
the client software to a new maintenance release.
See “Installing the server and the console” on page 36.
See “Deploying clients” on page 48.

Does that mean that the clients need to be redeployed after the upgrade?

I have a followup question along the lines of TJBlues' question.  Does SEP 11 support Win7?  If so, which version(s)?  Does Symantec Antivirus Corp. Ed. 10 support Win7?  If so, which version(s)?

    Drew,

The clients will get upgraded automatically. no need to go through the initial deployment procedures.

SEP 11 RU5 does support Windows 7, but SAV does not at this time.

    Hi --

I've looked high and low for the solution to this problem. I've seen many similar posts to this one, but none seem to have a concrete resolution. Which is beginning to concern me, since I just convinced this client to drop their AV vendor in favor of SEP ...

I just installed SEP Small Business v12 (I assume the latest available -- 12.0.122.192) on a client's network and deployed the package to 15 Windows XP PCs and two Windows 7 PCs. The Windows 7 PCs are complaining of compatibility issues. Specifically, they are complaining that the Confidence Online Utility Driver is being blocked because it is incompatible with the system. On one of the Windows 7 PCs, Outlook's Business Contact Manager is now failing because Outlook apparently can't connect to the PC's SQL server.

I don't know whether the driver compatibility problem and the Outlook problem are related. But neither problem existed before we installed SEP 12. And right now I have two Windows 7 PCs complaining over and over about incompatible drivers from Symantec being blocked.

What is the fix for this? I've been to the FileConnect site and can't find any package specifically labeled "RU1".

    Thanks
    CL

SEP 12 RU1 is also labeled as 12.0.122.192. Do you see this version on Fileconnect?

All the files I see on FileConnect are labeled 12.0.1.

But if the RU1 version is 12.0.122.192, then I installed the latest version at this client. And I'm still having the problem with Windows 7 that was supposedly fixed by RU1 ...

    Hi Chuck,

I was wrong,  12.0.1001.95 supports Windows 7. I do not have access to Fileconnect, but I am trying to confirm that the version on Fileconnect is the latest build. Hang tight.

    @ Chuck,

Did you successfully download the files from fileshare?
